PROCEDURE OF
OTOPLASTY
The otoplasty procedure consists of molding the cartilage of the ears so that they acquire a corrected anatomical shape.
The procedure is performed through incisions located in the natural folds of the ears, usually hidden in the back. The cartilaginous structure is molded, redundant skin is removed and the incision is closed. At the end, the operated region is covered with a compression bandage to avoid excess inflammation and bruising.
RECOVERY OF
OTOPLASTY
During recovery, the most important thing is to wear a compression bandage permanently during the first 3 days. During this time the patient will notice some discomfort resulting from the natural inflammation of the operation that will be calmed with analgesics.
We recommend sleeping on your side so that they press on your ears.
Once the elastic bandages have been removed, a compressive elastic garment should be worn at night for up to a month to prevent the cartilage from returning to its original position as a result of its elastic memory and strength.
